How the calculation works

Each wall is rounded up to whole strips. Strip length includes trimming and is rounded up to the next straight pattern repeat before rolls are counted.

Try an example

A 4 m wall, 2.5 m high, with a 53 cm × 10 m roll and 32 cm repeat needs 8 strips and 3 rolls.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose metres or feet. Enter the shared wall height and each wall's full width; use Add another wall for up to eight walls of the same height.
  2. Enter roll width, roll length and the straight pattern repeat from the product label. Enter 0 for free-match paper, then add the combined top-and-bottom trim and any spare rolls.
  3. Select Calculate rolls. Review rolls to buy, strip length and strips per wall before checking the product's hanging instructions.

Common questions

Should I subtract doors and windows?

This calculator uses full wall widths without deducting openings. It plans full-width vertical strips and does not reuse offcuts, so openings can leave spare material. Check the actual cutting plan before buying.

Does this work for drop-match wallpaper?

No. This version supports free-match and straight-match wallpaper. Drop-match and A/B designs need a different cutting plan. Use the match type and repeat printed on your chosen roll.

Why can pattern repeat increase the roll count?

The calculator adds total trim to the wall height, then rounds that strip length up to a whole straight pattern repeat. Longer strips can reduce the number cut from each roll. Walls of different heights need separate calculations.
